A Hot and Smokey New England
The air had been so hot and hard to breathe in with the Canadian fires raging, that we couldn’t spend more than two days on the northern lake. It was eerily silent while there with the sun looking like a glowing red ball through the smoke the day we left. I hadn’t meant to go this long between blog posts. My husband’s medical crisis in and the aftercare has left us both out of sorts mentally. It was a lot to go through, and I am still processing it all.
I had injured my knee prior to going to camp and had hoped it would heal sooner but it did not so we kept our activity low key. My husband managed to get out in the kayak as I hung out on shore attempting to get some nature photos. He later got out his fishing gear and loaded up the canoe.
I adore canoeing and wasn’t about to let my knee spoil all my fun. Since beginning Zepbound in May, my health has improved greatly. Not only have I shed near 30 pounds, my blood pressure, my lipoma disorder, and arthritic pain have greatly improved. It doesn’t hurt to move anymore, and my body feels so much better. Zepbound for me has been a Godsend for its anti-inflammatory properties alone.
Our last couple trips here we had really enjoyed but we decided on this visit that if we are still living in the area a more suitable vacation cabin will need easier access to the waterfront. At this camp there is no beach and very few stairs, hence why I have taken a few tumbles. You primarily have to climb up and down the embankment through trees and brush. This year with both of us having faced physical challenges of aging we need to be more proactive.
The area is still close to our hearts and always will be. It’s beautiful and quiet, a smaller lake whose location is opposite the well-known Lake Winnipesaukee. The property houses four cabins and a four unit motel. It has been in the owner's family since the 1960’s.
Our final day of our visit we took the canoe out and paddled around the exterior, stopping to watch one of the two seaplanes launch from the water. It was our one last look around. So much has happened in the last few months, our priorities are now different. We are still house hunting, but the reality is we aren't keen to leave an area we have spent our last sixteen years living in. If and when we do go it will be difficult.
