Last Verse Same As The First

It was almost looking like spring until it wasn't. New England got bombarded by yet more snow and here we are. The good news is its now March and though it looks like a white wonderland, its still warming up and melting because you can't stop spring. The following images will signify an end of my winter scenes and next comes a long awaited color change. The cold started seasonably early last year in September, thats 6 long months of this ridiculousness.

The last couple of weeks have been a tumultuous blur, there was work, taxes, the loss of two friends, and much reflection. My goal has been to enjoy each day and to not turn on the television to avoid the mainstream news because as the world knows, there is nothing good to be had from it. If we can ever get this never ending winter season out of the way life will just feel a bit sweeter.

For today I am grateful that our health is good, and our loved ones are safe. My goal lately has been to keep on with my spring cleaning and tossing out the extra baggage of "things" that I have hung onto over the years no longer needed. At some point we will move, God willing, and this will mean less to pack.

We are still up in the air deciding if we should buy a small property to retire to or keep our savings intact and find senior income based housing. The latter after applying can be lengthy waiting on already long lists of others attempting the same, but I have begun that process as an option. Once in your 60's that's not time you can afford to count on for many reasons I try not to think of. Realistically, at some point one of us will be left behind so securing affordable housing is a must.

As I sit here watching the ice and snow melt, I'm holding onto the positive thoughts of better will come this rest of the year. The sun will still shine, the warmer weather will return, and somewhere out there is our new home. Life is terrifying but the beauty of it is the fact it is fluid and always changing. Yesterday overhead I heard the honking melody of a large flock of Canada geese returning from the south, oh if I just had those wings.
