A New Stage in Life Begins

It's been a stretch since I've posted. We found a home and our offer was accepted. We are now in the contingency stage with a closing scheduled for May, and my nerves are frazzled.

I won't say too much for now in hopes that I won't jinx the current process we are in. We decided on a home in the adjoining state that needs some work done to it, though nothing major. A couple of times we had buyers remorse and almost backed out, but it’s primarily rooted in fear of change.

Many would not, but we chose to live in a community of similar aged people as ourselves. The residents are nice, the area is not heavily populated, and it's closer to the grandchildren should they choose to visit. It will be a huge adjustment for both myself and husband and a scary first step into retirement, though we plan to work part time.

The larger problem will be the loss of our current healthcare through work we have had 11 years, but I'm attempting to figure that out. Luckily we both have no major medical issues and knock-wood we will continue that way. As far as our new home is concerned we are just waiting on community approval. We plan to pay for the property in full to forgo a mortgage. We have worked very hard until now to be debt free and want to remain  as such. My fingers are crossed and prayers said the next few weeks go smoothly.
